Our Lady's Inn is an emergency shelter/maternity home program for

homeless, pregnant women and their children.

 

Opened 1982 in St. Louis and 2006 in St. Charles,

Our Lady's Inn is a life-affirming alternative to abortion.

More than 5,000 women, plus their children,

have been sheltered and served by Our Lady's Inn.

Programs at Our Lady's Inn 24-hour emergency shelter maternity homes include:

  • Case management, encouragement support, and referrals addressing a variety of tasks, goals, issues and needs
  • Each family is provided their own room here at Our Lady's Inn, with furniture, linens, a personal care welcome basket, stuffed animals, and more!
  • Meals, clothing and supplies for moms, babies and children
  • A safe place for the moms and families and a healthy place for post-partum recovery.
  • In-house MSW counselor. Screening and referrals regarding mental health, chemical dependency (drug/alcohol abuse), domestic violence, developmental issues, intergenerational patterns and more.
  • Sharing of house chores; learning home and life skills and team work; establishing a regular daily routine
  • In-house nurses on staff. St. Louis has great access to health care facilities.
  • Workshops and training programs for the moms in-house and at other agencies, including parenting, counseling, employment readiness, educational preparedness, stress management, smoking cessation, prenatal and postnatal care, mental health screening, literacy, budgeting, domestic violence prevention, child development, first aid & CPR, abstinence, healthy relationships and more.
  • In-house childcare while the moms and children are in workshops and counseling sessions in our building
  • Moms give attention to regular, consistent health and educational needs for themselves and their children
  • Resources for spiritual wholeness and hope
  • Some transportation is provided, along with appropriate car seats. Public transportation is easily and readily accessible at the St. Louis location. At the St. Charles location, staff provides transportation (over 50,000 miles per year!)
  • Field trips, recreation and other fun activities
  • Two years of voluntary AfterCare case management after they move out of Our Lady's Inn, plus an occasional reunion event
  • In-depth series of workshops, training videos and reading materials
  • Interaction with volunteers and guest speakers
